I do my best to keep costs down, but I have no control over other entities. Thanks.
Cold Steel makes some tough blades - and some people like to prove it, like the previous owner of this one. Discontinued by Cold Steel, this was listed as a "Katana Machete," though I'm not sure I would take it into the jungle to hack away at vines. Chopping
cantaloupe or watermelon - definitely, maybe small branches, but it is just too long with a handle that's too long to use as a machete. Blade is 1055 carbon steel with black coating, handle is black polypropylene - I guess that makes it dishwasher safe - attached to the tang with two steel rivets. The one has been used pretty hard, and the sword survived. Much of coating is gone at/near tip, handle has scrapes and some shallow cuts. Edge is sharp, but swords aren't meant to be shaving implements so it doesn't and shouldn't have a super fine edge on it. Comes with original sheath but person who had it before cut off the shoulder strap, probably because it got in the way. If this were slung over your back, you would need arms like an orangutan to pull it out. The rivets have some rust on the back. It's a cool sword, one you can practice with and not worry about damaging like the expensive and pretty ones, and a lot sturdier than many others with poor heat treat that will snap the first time they hit anything harder than cotton candy. Pictures tell the story.
Handles molded with "
COLD STEEL
" near guard. M
easures 40-1/4" overall, 24" blade length.
