$ 116.16

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

THEY BELONGED TO A WWII VETERAN. SHIPPING TAG INDICATES HE WAS A PFC.
FENCING SWORDS ARE FROM AN ESTATE.
THEY ARE IN FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION. SEE PHOTOS
THEY HAVE BEEN WELL USED IN MANY A MATCH.
THE HANDLES ON BOTH SWORDS ARE INTACT.
THE GRASSON SWORD HAS A 34 5/8” BLADE WITH THE TIP CURLED OVER. IT HAS A FULL HANDGUARD.
THE CASTELLO G.S. #5 SWORD IS 31 ¾” BLADE WITH THE TIP MISSING. IT IS ALSO MISSING SOME TYPE OF END CAP. IT HAS A ROUND HAND GUARD THAT IS LOOSE.
THE 2 SWORDS COME WITH A 47” CANVAS STORAGE BAG.
THE BAG HAS WHAT APPEARS TO BE LEATHER TRIM AROUND THE OUTER EDGE OF THE BAG. THE LEATHER IS IN GOOD CONDITION.
THE ARE NO HOLES, RIPS OR TEARS IN THE BAG. THE CARRYING STRAP IS ATTACHED WITH NO REPAIRS.
THE ZIPPER WORKS AND I DON’T SEE ANY MISSING TEETH.
THERE WERE 2 RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY SHIPPING TAGS ATTACHED TO THE HANDLE OF THE STORAGE BAG. THESE TAGS ARE VERY BRITTLE. THEY INDICATE THE RANK AND NAME OF THE SOLIDER BUT THERE IS NO SHIPPING DATE.
I received this info from a fellow eBayer with
30 years of fencing
:
"the one with the broken  blade and no pommel is a french grip foil - possibly right hand
the other is a fencing  sabre with a complete blade possibly right hand
the sabre is the most  interesting of the two (it appears - the foil... looks ok but not as good as the sabre in condition and in uniqueness (I have seen one or two like this recently but there are not many - as one would expect with vintage gear mind you i have seen a few foils of this type vintage)"
I HOPE HIS EXPLANATION OF THE SABER / FOIL IS  HELPFUL TO THOSE COLLECTING THESE ITEMS.
****SEE PHOTOS. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS.****
